Toggling

toggling.jpg

Toggling, or drying the leather by pegging it to the ground, is part of the production process of leather, but often takes place outside the tannery. Children involved in toggling work outside and are much less affected by chemicals. The hard aspects of this work are mostly related to weather conditions and the physical position they must endure during work. Some children complain about backaches from their stooped positions, and also about the strong sun.
